Businesspeople and Politics in Brazil

Author:

Icaro Gabriel da Fonseca Engler

Abstract:

The book “Entrepreneurs and Politics in Brazil” aims to analyze the possible relationships between two distinct spaces: the economic and the political. In this sense, it seeks to distance itself from the more common concerns, present in various authors, about economic development or the functioning of democracy, thus not focusing on the behavior of actors or the representation of interests, but on the assets of resources and social positions shared before electoral success, as well as their perpetuation in politics after this entry. Thus, it is possible to demonstrate a set of possible logics within this intersection, anchored in strategies of social reproduction, defined by the diversification of resources and social positions, as well as their mobilization as social assets.
