Authors:

Samantha Ribeiro Meyer-Pflug, Alessandra de Andrade Serrazes and Vitor Eduardo Tavares de Oliveira

The reality of lobbying is inherent to the democratic rule of law, as the Brazilian Federal Constitution determines broad popular participation in decision-making. The need to legislate the matter is crucial for better control and transparency of the lobbyist’s activity, its regulation through law will mean the definitive removal and difference of such practice with the crimes of corruption and influence peddling. In order to guarantee equal access, due to purely economic issues, it is essential to build legislation that guarantees the impartiality of the State, ensuring the same space for everyone in defending their interests.
