The Path to the Plateau Passes Through Blogs: Framing and the Internet in the 2010 Elections

This work develops a Framing and plurality analysis during the 2010 presidential elections in four political blogs: Ricardo Noblat, Josias de Souza, Luis Nassif and Radar. The investigation covers four cases considered key events of the election campaign Decriminalization of abortion; the Erenice Guerra Case; the Paulo Preto Case, and the Bolinha de Papel farce in the period between July 1st and October 31th of that year. We seek to identify in the 808 selected texts which were the main framing patterns found in the coverage performed by the four virtual pages, other than the profile and comprehensiveness of sources consulted in the published texts. In order to guide the assessment the technique of Content Analysis is used as tool. It is concluded that the difficulty of inserting new voices in the electoral debate, beyond the offensiveness and biased coverage of political blogs, are trademarks of the sites studied. Still, there is also a intense incorporation of written press framings by the virtual press.
