Abstract:

This article analyzes the participation of reserve military personnel in political pressure groups in Mercosur countries. These groups defend the military regime and the expansion of the military’s tutelary role. The discourse of these entities is characterized by anti-communism and resentment towards democracy. The emergence of these groups appears as a response to trends towards civilian control and interactions between political parties and military sectors.
