Real state development in São Paulo: in defense of a political analysis

Abstract:

Highlighting São Paulo, the article historically recovers the real estate development to the present day, makes a critical revision on the production ever undertaken on the subject and outlines future research prospects, pointing to the urgency of introducing political categories of analysis. From the review of the major research that deal with real estate development and related topics, such studies are organized into five periods enclosing a cohesive set of institutions that impact real estate activity and the formation of its economic market in São Paulo. The article points the urgent need to analyze political practices of social actors involved in cities construction and the relationships they establish with the public authorities in order to implement urban development public policy.
