DIAP: Worker Lobbying in the National Congress

Author:

Andréa Cristina de Jesus Oliveira

Abstract:

This text aimed to discuss the action strategies used by DIAP (Inter-Union Department of Parliamentary Advisory), an entity that calls itself the workers’ lobby in the National Congress. DIAP’s history is intrinsically linked to the redemocratization process the country underwent. We thus evaluated the history of its creation, highlighting the process of discussion and the articulation of interests necessary for its construction, as well as the entity’s structure and organization, its objectives, mode of operation, and especially the action strategies implemented to represent the consensual and majority interests of its members.
