Abstract:

The works gathered in this book are the result of the research program “The Role of Mercosur Parliaments in Democracy and Integration,” coordinated by CLAEH and sponsored by the OAS Unit for the Promotion of Democracy. Also participating in the institutional network of this program are the Di Tella University of Argentina, the University of Brasília, and CIDSEP of the Catholic University of Asunción, Paraguay. This book analyzes the research work of the “Mercosur Regional Program for Interparliamentary Cooperation and Legislative Modernization” network on the role of national congresses in the legislative processing of budgets and in providing legislative support to the integration process.
