This article analyzes military activism throughout the Brazilian democratization process. This phenomenon has been present since the 1980s, although it has not been properly explored until Jair Bolsonaro’s rise to power. It was broadcast by interest groups and political pressure groups. These, organized throughout the country and led mostly by retired generals and colonels, will criticize the new democratic status quo, starting a dispute for hearts and minds in the Military Club, in barracks, and in the civilian environment. At the end, will show the origins of the far-right speech in Jair Bolsonaro’s campaign.
